What and where is the thyroid

• The thyroid is an endocrine gland located in the front of the neck just below the ‘Adam’s apple’. It consists of two lobes that are positioned

on both sides of the windpipe. These lobes are joined in the middle by a bridge of thyroid tissue called the isthmus.


• Thyroid has a very good blood supply coming from superior and inferior thyroid arteries. Lymph from thyroid drains to neck lymph nodes
